Haven Housing operates three programs in North Minneapolis: Ascension Place (transitional housing), St. Anne’s Place (emergency family shelter) and Next Step Housing (permanent supportive housing). Our programs provide a continuum of housing services, along with basic need support, individualized case management, supportive programming and extensive community referrals.
St. Anne’s Place of Haven Housing is an emergency family shelter that acts as the stepping stone from crisis to stability. We offer basic needs provisions, case management, and health and wellness opportunities to homeless mothers and their children. Staff is available 24 hours a day to support women in their pursuit of independence, healing from trauma, poverty, and homelessness, and with other barriers limiting emotional, psychological and social well-being.
We are seeking someone to join our dynamic team. The Kitchen Manager is responsible for preparing meals, as well as the overall food preparation and food service oversight at St. Anne’s Place of Haven Housing. Looking to hire two cooks to fulfill the needs of our organization:
This position is full time either Sunday - Thursday or Tuesday - Saturday.
Manages day-to-day food service operations
Uses fresh ingredients to create meals that are from scratch and nutritious
Brings positive and joyful attitude to the dining environment
Engages with mothers and their children in a encouraging and kind way
Performs cooking duties, which include food preparation, cooking, baking, serving, and clean-up
Orders food and works with donations from food banks and other community resources from a variety of place that include Sysco and food bank
Maintains an organized and clean pantry and kitchen
Hard working and dedicated
Uses resources wisely and maintains a budget
Promotes healthful eating
Makes creative menus to keep variety and high nutritional value
Assists organization with events (i.e. fundraising, holiday celebrations, etc,)
Ensures compliance with all health and safety regulations
Must maintain State of MN Food Manager's Certificate
Manages a government food subsidy grant by tracking meal service and menu creation
Reliability and consistent attendance
Creates and distributes weekly menus
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Previous cooking/kitchen experience a must
Experience with large quantity healthy cooking
Supervisory experience/lead experience preferred
Strong communication skills
Excellent time management skills
Must have functional computer skills
Must be able to pass organizational background check
